Our Solutions for a
Cleaner Future
Statement
At Sanitær we are deeply conscious about our impact on the environment; therefore, our products aim to not only provide the quality that you deserve but also support local and sustainable business in the production and packaging of our products while also reducing our carbon footprint.
Packaging
Our packaging is made 100% out of cornstarch which is a completely renewable resource, biodegradable with the ability to form agriculture fertilizer, free of the toxins found in plastics such as polyvinyl chloride and boasts outstandingly low levels of greenhouse gas emissions. Our cornstarch packaging matches common plastics in durability and strength, and use 65% less energy to produce. In the process of production, cornstarch produces polylactic acid (PLA), a bioactive polyester made up of lactic acid building blocks. After its initial discovery in 1932 by Wallace Carothers, the use of PLA has skyrocketed, quickly becoming the second most consumed bioplastic in the world; due to its remarkable compostable and biodegradable properties, lessening our dependence on non-renewable petroleum-based raw materials.
All the intricate details of our packaging is carefully designed by us, with the use of soy-inks we can assure that it is 100% recyclable. Soy inks are made from slightly refined soybean oil which is then mixed with pigment, resins and waxes. By switching traditional petroleum-based inks for our eco-friendly alternative, we use less inks during printing and provide you with a sharper and brighter aesthetic to enjoy.

The bottles you receive the materials in for your customised hand sanitizer experience are made of plastics, which are chemically bonded polymers forming polyethylene and polystyrene for instance, these large molecules are extremely stable and as a result will not biodegrade within our lifetimes. While we are constantly doing research to find ways to reduce our environmental footprint, we also must consider the safety and quality of the product, most importantly the high percentage ethanol we provide which would cause leaching of a harmful chemical named bisphenol-A from other alternative packaging options.
How You can help
Therefore, we provide all of our customers with the opportunity to take part in our eco-friendly scheme. Send us back empty bottles, and after you have sent us back 5 full kits worth, we will provide you 50% off your next order!
How we recycle
The empty plastic bottles will be distributed within communities for arts and crafts projects for kids, small-scale herb gardening and to organisations that specialise in remodelling and reusing plastic bottles in unique and innovative ways.

We thank you for making a conscious and educated decision in regards to the environment, and implore you to share pictures of your own inventive ways of reusing plastic bottles with us.
